Purkis history is here: http://freespace.virgin.net/j.purkis/index.htm

This page is dedicated to our founder, Tom Purkis, 1924-1983 , who like many other courageous Canadians volunteered for and fought in our country's armed forces in order to protect essential human rights for his and future generations. Some of these essential rights and freedoms are:

bullet

the right to be put in possession of the truth, to the farthest limit of its availability

bullet

the right to security of the person

bullet

the right to freedom speech

bullet

the right to freedom of assembly

bullet

the right to privacy, "A man's home is his castle."

bullet

the right to expect our leaders to act as shepherds, not as wolves

bullet

the right to clean air, clean water, clean earth

"The Americans create desolation and call it peace." adapted from Tacitus

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God" Matthew 5:9

Fragments from Lao-tze's

Tao Teh King

Translated by James Legge

* * *

Always without desire we must be found,

If its deep mystery we would sound;

But if desire always within us be,

Its outer fringe is all that we shall see.

* * *

The work is done but how no one can see;

'Tis this that makes the power not cease to be.

* * *

The five colours will blind the eye;

the five sounds will deafen the ear;

the five flavours will weary the taste;

things hard to get will do harm to man's conduct.

Therefore the wise will prepare for the heart and not for the eye.

* * *

Everything difficult must be dealt with while it is still easy.

* * *

Was it not said that the seeker will find the Way, and the sinner who finds it will be forgiven?
